Munguia Won’t Be Punished After Failing Doping Test

The British Boxing Control Council and UK Anti-Doping have decided not to sanction former WBO junior middleweight world champion Jaime Munguia despite a positive test for exogenous testosterone, ESPN reporter Salvador Rodríguez said.

No disciplinary measures will be taken. Munguia’s unanimous decision victory over Bruno Surace will stand, and there will be no demand for a third fight with that opponent. Munguia is expected to return to the ring at the end of the year, likely in November or December.

The rematch between Munguia and Surace took place in May this year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Jaime won by unanimous decision. Their first meeting in December 2024 ended with Munguia being knocked out in the sixth round. He has 45 wins (35 by knockout) and two losses in his professional career.
