The inspiring journey of former world champion Naseem Hamed, who held WBO, IBF, WBC, and IBO titles, will be the foundation for a biopic titled "Giant," which is set to premiere in U.S. theaters in the first quarter of 2026, according to writer and director Rowan Athale.
Rowan Athale for Deadline
It has been my dream and ambition to bring Giant to the cinema screen for many years. The story of Prince Naseem Hamed and his tempestuous relationship with fabled boxing trainer Brendan Ingle is the stuff of legend. Hilarious, heartbreaking and cinematically thrilling, it’s been such a pleasure to bring this to life with a truly iconic actor in Pierce Brosnan, and the exceptionally talented star on the rise, Amir El Masry. And it has been wonderful to make this film with the support of Sylvester Stallone and his Balboa Productions behind the camera.
Hamed's last professional boxing match was against Manuel Calvo in May 2002. This fight went the distance and ended with Hamed winning by unanimous decision. His professional record stands at 36 wins (31 by knockout) and one loss.
Trainer Brendan Ingle passed away in 2018 at the age of 77 due to a brain hemorrhage.
