Nigerian Boxer Seeks Compensation After Missing World Championship Due to Gender Test Delay

Nigerian athlete Blessing Oraekwe has announced her intention to seek compensation from World Boxing after being unable to compete in the World Championships. According to Oraekwe, she was barred from entering the ring due to delays in the publication of her gender test results.

Blessing Oraekwe
It was heartbreaking for me because my plan was to come here and dominate in the ring and take the gold for my country. I know how I worked so hard for this. They brought the tests late. All I want to say is for World Boxing to compensate us, because we have spent a lot.

Oraekwe was scheduled to compete in the under-75 kg weight category at the tournament held in Liverpool. However, she and two other Nigerian athletes were not allowed to participate.
