Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao plans to face WBA welterweight champion Rolando Romero in his next fight, said Pacquiao adviser and MP Promotions head Sean Gibbons.

All of the stories are out there, and Rolly Romero is one of the frontrunners because Manny wants meaningful fights. He wants to break his own records and make history, just like when he won the world title at 40 years old.

Pacquiao last fought in July 2025 against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios; that bout ended in a majority draw. Pacquiao’s record is 62 wins (39 by KO), eight losses and three draws.

Romero last fought in May 2025, beating Ryan Garcia by unanimous decision. His record is 17 wins (13 by KO) and two losses.
