Former UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero has challenged former middleweight champion Anderson Silva to a boxing match.
Yoel Romero for The Schmo
I’m coming for boxing. Did you see what happened, Anderson Silva beat up Tyron Woodley. But he called out the wrong name, he said he wants to fight Chris Weidman. Come on, Silva. You know I am the man, you need to fight with me, you need to fight me, I need to fight you, let’s do it.
On January 11, at the RAF 5 tournament in Sunrise, USA, a grappling match will take place between UFC fighter Bo Nickal, who currently holds the organization's light heavyweight belt, and Romero.
Yoel Romero last competed in September 2025 at the bare-knuckle boxing event BKFC 80, defeating Theo Doukas by technical knockout in the second round. His MMA record stands at 16 wins and seven losses.
On December 20 in Miami, Silva fought a boxing match against Tyron Woodley. In that bout, Anderson won by technical knockout in the second round. His MMA record includes 34 wins, 11 losses, and one no contest.
