Former undisputed light-welterweight world champion Kostya Tszyu commented on Timofey Tszyu's decision to change his team in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net.

Tim didn't just change his coaching staff – he completely changed his team. His former manager and former coach are close to me. But my son is the one who calls the shots, and I agree with him. Tim did not consult me. He just said he was planning to change the team, and I supported him. I don’t know his new coach personally. I have seen his work in the gym, but that is only part of a coach's responsibilities. A coach also needs to talk to the athlete. If Tim has put his trust in him, maybe something good will come of it.
In September 2025, it became known that Tim Tszyu had left his team, ending relationships with manager Glen Jennings, as well as coaches Igor Golubev and David Barker, doctor Bill Anseline, and cutman Mark Gambin. Timofey will now train under the guidance of his new coach, Pedro Diaz.
