WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, recounted how he was knocked out by a horse in his youth.
Oleksandr Usyk, quoted by The Sun
When I was young, a horse punched me in the head, BAM! The horse had zero fights, zero wins and one knockout. When I opened my eyes I asked, ‘Am I alive?’ and everybody celebrated that I had survived. They put me on the back of the horse cart and took me home, where they told my parents I had a little problem. The problem was a hole in my head and lots of blood. But — after one month — I was back in the field and looking for the horse. I found him and grabbed him by the neck, jumped on and rode him for about 10 kilometres. No problem.
For context, on July 19, Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will have a rematch at Wembley Stadium in London, with the title of undisputed world champion on the line. Their first encounter in August 2023 ended with a knockout victory for the Ukrainian in the ninth round.
Usyk last stepped into the ring in December 2024, winning by unanimous decision against Tyson Fury. He boasts 23 victories (14 by knockout) and no losses.
Dubois fought his last match in October 2024, knocking out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round. He has 22 wins (21 by knockout) and two losses.
