WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis was arrested on July 11 on charges of assaulting his former partner.
According to the Ring Magazine, the boxer was detained due to an incident that took place in June this year, during which he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend. Police reports indicate that Davis struck her in the back of the head and slapped her.
Davis' last fight took place against Lamont Roach in March this year in Brooklyn, which ended in a majority decision draw. Gervonta's professional boxing record includes 30 wins (28 by knockout), one draw, and no losses.
