Grigory Drozd, former WBC heavyweight world champion, commented on the decision of Ukrainian boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko to end his career in the professional ring in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net.
Grigory Drozd exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
Lomachenko has fully fulfilled his potential in professional boxing, although he came late from amateur sport. He could have done it earlier. He made history by becoming world champion in his third fight. Who else has ever done that? It's a great achievement, for sure.
Recall that the 37-year-old Lomachenko was the world champion in semi-lightweight and lightweight. He took the first title in 2014 in the third fight of his professional career, and won his last belt in 2024. Lomachenko was a two-time Olympic and world champion in the amateur ring.
