Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has shared insights into the future of Puerto Rican boxer Xander Zayas, who clinched the vacant WBO world championship title in July in the light middleweight division.
Bob Arum
I don’t know about the opponent. But I want to make his first title defense in Puerto Rico this winter. I thought he was really terrific [in the fight against Jorge Garcia]. He fought a very intelligent fight. He was in with a very, very tough Mexican, a real good puncher and he did great.
To recall, on July 26 at a boxing event in New York, Zayas triumphed over Jorge Garcia Perez by unanimous decision. He boasts an impressive record with 22 wins (13 by knockout) and no losses.
