Zayas vs. Baraou Unification Bout in Development for January 2026

A unification bout between WBO junior middleweight titleholder Xander Zayas of Puerto Rico and WBA world champion Abass Baraou of Germany is reportedly in development for January 2026.

According to BoxingScene, the boxers' promoters have already reached a verbal agreement to stage the fight.

Zayas last stepped into the ring in July 2025, defeating Jorge Garcia Perez by unanimous decision. His record stands at 22 wins (13 by knockout) and no losses.

Baraou's last fight was in August 2025, where he defeated Yoenis Tellez by unanimous decision. He has 17 wins (nine by knockout) and one loss on his record.
