Ex-Haas Chief Steiner Condemns Stewards' Decision to Fine Tsunoda in Abu Dhabi

Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner spoke out about the incident between McLaren driver Lando Norris and Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Briton, Norris, completed an overtake off-track after pushing Tsunoda wide, after which the Japanese driver received a penalty.

Guenther Steiner, quoted by GPBlog
Nothing should happen. This is racing. This is what we want to see, the spectator, the fans, want to see... We don't want to see the stewards getting popular with the people by handing out fines, getting attention.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was won by Max Verstappen (Red Bull), with Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) finishing second and Lando Norris (McLaren) third. Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull) finished the race in 14th place.

Lando Norris became the Formula 1 world champion last season, scoring 423 points. Verstappen took second place (421), and Piastri third (410). Tsunoda finished 17th (33).
