Spanish driver Fernando Alonso, two-time Formula 1 world champion and member of the Aston Martin team, commented on the possibility of ending his career.
Fernando Alonso
Since I don't have a crystal ball, I gave an answer that will be valid forever. I think that until May, that's how I feel right now. I'll always discuss with Lawrence and the team what their needs are, and the team will come first and me second. I'm happy with my career and I consider myself very fortunate to have been here for so many years.
Next year, Alonso will turn 45 years old.
Currently, Fernando Alonso ranks 14th in the drivers' standings with 30 points, while Aston Martin is seventh in the constructors' championship.
His best result this season is fifth place at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Earlier, Flavio Briatore, expert consultant for the Alpine team, defended Alonso, stating that rumors about the difficulties of working with the Aston Martin driver have no basis.
