President of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) Mohammed Ben Sulayem has expressed his views on the potential inclusion of a Chinese team in Formula 1.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem
I still feel we need more teams than races. If there is a Chinese [bid], they will agree to that, because it is about sustaining the business. If there is a team from China, let's say, and FOM approved it, and I am 100 per cent they will approve it, wouldn't it make more money with China coming in? I believe, yes.
Earlier in March, Formula 1 organizers announced that Cadillac will join the grid starting from the 2026 season, becoming the 11th team in the championship. The last time there were more than ten teams competing in Formula 1 was in 2016.
