According to GPblog, 51-year-old British Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner received $70.2 million compensation after his dismissal from the Austrian Red Bull team.
There were earlier reports Horner might join another F1 team in mid-2026.
Horner was a founding figure of the Red Bull team and became its principal in January 2005 at age 31. Under his leadership over two decades, Red Bull secured 124 Grand Prix wins (31 of which were 1-2 finishes), won the Constructors’ Championship six times, and had drivers crowned World Champions eight times.
His successor is Laurent Mekies, formerly team principal at Racing Point (now Aston Martin).
In the current F1 driver standings, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri leads with 324 points, and McLaren also tops the Constructors’ Championship with 623 points.
