Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has commented on the reasons behind his disappointing performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he was aiming for a podium finish but ended up fourth. According to the Monegasque, a technical failure in the chassis affected him during the second half of the race.
From around Lap 40 we had a problem with the chassis, so now I’ve had more details about it. In the car obviously I had no idea what was going on. I mean I had an idea, but it was a wrong idea because I thought it was something that was in our control. Unfortunately we had an issue on the chassis, so I don’t have much to add on that. It’s just extremely frustrating when you are fighting for a win and when we had the pace that we had at the beginning of the race, and we lose absolutely everything later on.
He added that the team needs to investigate the situation and ensure such incidents do not happen again.
The Hungarian Grand Prix, which took place on August 3 at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród, ended with a double victory for McLaren, as Lando Norris outpaced his teammate Oscar Piastri, with George Russell from Mercedes completing the podium. Leclerc finished fourth, while reigning world champion Max Verstappen came in ninth. Following this race, Norris reduced the gap to Piastri in the standings to just nine points (275 to 284).
