Dutch racer Max Verstappen of the Austrian team Red Bull Racing stated that it would be wiser for young drivers aiming for success in Formula 1 to invest their money in a racing simulator rather than in karting.

Forget the go-kart. That's the problem with our sport - when you grow up playing football, you play from a young age with the ball. The ball doesn't change. For us, I feel like a go-kart is not the same as a race car. [With a] go-kart, you learn the basics of racing - starts defending, overtaking, but a go-kart does not handle like a car.
The four-time Formula 1 champion also admitted that he has not driven a kart since 2016, preferring testing in GT cars and home simulators to prepare for the Grand Prix stages.
In the current Drivers' Championship standings, Max Verstappen holds third place, trailing the leader, McLaren representative Lando Norris, by 49 points.
