McLaren team principal Zak Brown has openly expressed satisfaction with Christian Horner's departure from his role at Red Bull and believes that Formula 1 will now see less political maneuvering.
Zak Brown
I’m happy Laurent’s in the role he is in. I like Laurent, that’ll be healthy, and maybe we can get back to focusing on competition on the track. It went too far. There’s always going to be politicking in F1; let’s try and shut down their flexi-wings and that stuff, but when you start getting into frivolous allegations, that’s just going too far. I think that we’ll see a little bit of a change for the better.
In early July, Christian Horner left his position as head of the Austrian team.
The 51-year-old Brit had led Red Bull from 2005 to 2025, during which the team won the Constructors' Championship six times.
The new team principal is Laurent Mekies, who previously held a similar position at Racing Bulls.
In the personal standings of Formula 1 drivers, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri leads with 284 points. McLaren is also ahead in the Constructors' Cup with 559 points.
