New Red Bull Leader Outlines Strategy to Retain Verstappen

The new head of the Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing, Laurent Mekies, has shared strategies to keep driver Max Verstappen on their roster.

The truth is Red Bull is hugely committed to Max. And the way we can be hugely committed to Max is by giving him the best possible car. So that’s where the effort is made really. And the rest will be a consequence. But of course, Max is central to the project and he’s key to the project and we need his magic at the racetrack.I think the team has everything to be competitive. It has the means. It has the spirit. And more importantly, it has the talents. So in short, yeah, I think we have everything to be able to give that to our drivers.

In early July, it was revealed that Verstappen agreed to a move to the German team Mercedes.

The 27-year-old Dutchman has been with Red Bull since 2016, winning four championship titles in that time. His current contract with the Austrian team lasts until the end of the 2027/28 season.

In the current driver standings, Verstappen sits in third place, trailing leader Oscar Piastri from McLaren by 69 points.
