Following the conclusion of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, McLaren team drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri publicly commented on their disqualification.
Despite Norris finishing in second place and Piastri finishing fourth, the FIA annulled their results due to excessive wear on the floor plank of their cars. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen became the winner of the Las Vegas round. After the results were reviewed, George Russell of Mercedes took second place, and his teammate Kimi Antonelli moved up to the third step of the podium.
Disappointing to come away from this weekend with no points after an unfortunate disqualification due to skid wear. With how close the grid is, we’re always looking at where we can gain performance, and we didn’t get it right this time.
"A frustrating end to today. We had to do some managing towards the end of the race and now we know it was due to some issues on our car, which have unfortunately resulted in us being disqualified," Norris said.
In the overall championship standings, leader Norris retains 390 points, while Piastri and Verstappen both have 366 points. The penultimate round of the current season will take place in Qatar from November 28 to 30.
