McLaren driver Oscar Piastri said he hopes he and his teammate Lando Norris will appreciate the importance of keeping a positive working atmosphere within the team despite their competition for the Formula 1 title.
The Australian noted that he and the British driver are trying to prevent their rivalry from escalating into a bitter conflict like the one that once erupted between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.

You don't really need an example to set the culture that we have at the moment. We're both very conscious that we want this opportunity of having the car and the team in this position for many years to come. The best way we can help as drivers, apart from driving fast, is by giving the team good morale and good confidence and making it a good team environment.
In the current F1 drivers’ standings, Oscar Piastri leads with 284 points. Lando Norris is second with 275 points.
McLaren also leads the constructors’ championship with 559 points.
Earlier, McLaren CEO Zak Brown said that Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will decide between themselves who will take the season’s victory.
