Dutch driver Max Verstappen, representing the Austrian team Red Bull, has commented on rumors about a potential move to the German team Mercedes.
A journalist suggested that Verstappen might take a year off to assess team strengths for the 2026 season before picking the best option; however, the Red Bull driver dismissed this possibility.
No, no, for sure not. I’ll be racing in Formula 1. Rumors about moving to Mercedes? I have nothing to add. What I said last week. Other people write stuff, that's great but it's not for me.
Recently, it was reported that the 27-year-old Dutch driver had agreed to move to Mercedes.
Verstappen has been with Red Bull since 2016 and has captured four Formula 1 championship titles during this time. His current contract with the Austrian team runs through the end of the 2027/28 season.
In the current Formula 1 drivers' standings, Verstappen is in third place, trailing McLaren driver Oscar Piastri, the leader, by 61 points.
Earlier, Red Bull's sporting consultant Helmut Marko stated that Verstappen would continue racing for the Austrian team, adding that he is getting annoyed with questions on this topic.
