Aitana Bonmati Wins Women’s Ballon d’Or for Third Consecutive Year

Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati has won the Women’s Ballon d’Or for 2025, marking her third straight win. Former Barcelona and Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta presented her with the award.

This continues a dominant trend, as this is the fifth time in seven years that Barcelona players have taken home the prize. Before Bonmati’s recent streak, Alexia Putellas, also a Barcelona player, won the Ballon d’Or twice.

The ceremony was organized by France Football and held at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France. For the fourth time in history, the award is based on performance during the past season – from August 1, 2024, to July 13, 2025 – rather than a calendar year.
