Defender Jordi Alba and midfielder Sergio Busquets, who played for Inter Miami, ended their professional careers after their victory over Vancouver Whitecaps (3-1) in the 2025 MLS Cup playoff final.
Both footballers are graduates of the Barcelona academy. Alba played for the Catalans from 2012 to 2023, and Busquets from 2006 to 2023. With the club, they repeatedly won the Spanish league and also prevailed in the 2015 Champions League final, in which the Blaugrana defeated Juventus (3-1).
As of La Liga Matchday 16 of the 2025-26 season, Barcelona are provisionally in first place in the table with 40 points. On the 17th Matchday, Hans-Dieter Flick’s team is playing Osasuna. The meeting will take place on December 13 at 20:30 GMT+3.
