With one round left in CONMEBOL qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, all six South American national teams that secured direct berths to the final tournament have been determined.
Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Uruguay, Colombia and Paraguay have all clinched direct qualification to the World Cup.
Three new qualifiers were confirmed overnight. Uruguay and Colombia comfortably secured their spots with big home wins, both 3-0, over Peru and Bolivia respectively. Paraguay earned the necessary result with a 0-0 draw against Ecuador, which ensured its place in the top six and direct qualification.
South America still has a chance to send one more team via the intercontinental playoffs. With one match to go, Venezuela occupies seventh place, which grants a playoff spot.
Bolivia, one point behind Venezuela, still has a chance to reach the playoffs. Chile and Peru, meanwhile, have lost their chances of competing in the World Cup finals.
The 2026 World Cup will for the first time be hosted by three countries: the United States, Mexico and Canada. The tournament begins June 11 and ends July 19. A record 48 national teams will take part in the final stage.
