Argentine football club General Lamadrid player Jonathan Smith required surgery after a car key was stuck into his forehead. This was reported by Infobae.
According to the source, Smith was attending a match for his 16-year-old daughter in Buenos Aires. A scuffle broke out during the game between the young athletes, quickly escalating into a serious conflict involving adult spectators. Smith attempted to defend his friend from an attack by a group of aggressive men. At one point during the struggle, the player was struck with a car key, which became lodged in his forehead.
It is known that Smith remained conscious. The 35-year-old victim was initially taken to the nearest medical facility and then transferred to a specialized clinic for complex treatment. There, Smith successfully underwent surgery. He had the key in his head for about half a day before the surgical intervention. Smith's daughter was also injured in the fight and hospitalized.
Law enforcement officers detained a suspect, Gaston Alvarez, a 40-year-old fruit vendor who, like Smith, came to support his daughter at the match. Witnesses claim that Alvarez appeared unaware of the severity of the incident and ignored the presence of the police, only persistently demanding the return of his car key multiple times. Alvarez will testify as part of an investigation into attempted murder.
