German midfielder İlkay Gündoğan, whose last club was English Manchester City, has officially become a Barcelona player. It was announced by the press service of the Blaugranas on June 26.
The 32-year-old midfielder joined the Catalan club as a free agent after his contract with the Citizens expired. Gündoğan's contract with Barça is valid for two seasons with the option to prolong it for another year. The amount of compensation for the German player with Turkish roots is 400 million euros.
Gündoğan played for Man City since 2016, becoming with the team five-time champion of England (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023), two-time winner of the National Cup (2019, 2023) and winner of the Champions League (2023). The midfielder played 31 games in the English Premier League (EPL) last season-2022/2023, where he scored eight goals and gave four assists.
