Barcelona officials are unhappy that goalkeeper and captain Marc-André ter Stegen signed an official statement from the Spanish Players’ Association (AFE) condemning the plan to hold a La Liga match in Miami, reports RAC1.
According to the source, the Catalan club believes the German goalkeeper should not have signed the statement because it conflicts with Barcelona’s interests.
La Liga president Javier Tebas previously announced that the Round 17 Primera match between Villarreal and Barcelona will take place in Miami this year.
Ter Stegen signed the statement along with the captains of all other Spanish league clubs.
This summer Barcelona investigated the German keeper after he refused to sign a La Liga medical protocol related to his injury.
Earlier, Real Madrid appealed to FIFA and UEFA asking them to block Barcelona from staging a La Liga match in the United States.
