Barcelona Do Not Want to Extend Lewandowski’s Contract Due to His Age

Barcelona do not intend to extend the contract of 37-year-old striker Robert Lewandowski, which expires in the summer of 2026, according to Sport.es.

The Blaugrana decision is based on the Pole’s age, as well as his low productivity and loss of ability to press opponents with the same intensity as his teammates.

It is not yet known whether Lewandowski will retire after the 2025-26 season. According to the source, a move to Saudi Arabia is unlikely.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern in the summer of 2022. In the 2025-26 season, he played nine matches in all competitions, scoring four goals.

After eight rounds of La Liga, Hans-Dieter Flick’s team is in second place with 19 points. In the ninth round, Barcelona will face Girona. The match will take place on October 18 at 17:15 GMT+3.
