Barcelona forward Marcus Rashford was named the best player of the first matchweek of the Champions League, UEFA’s official site reported.
In the group-stage opener against Newcastle (2-1), Rashford scored a brace, registering his first goals for the Catalan club.
Also shortlisted for the award were Francisco Trincão of Sporting, Marcus Thuram of Inter and Dušan Vlahović of Juventus.
This summer Barcelona signed Rashford on a one-season loan from Manchester United.
Barcelona coach Hans-Dieter Flick said Rashford’s brace against Newcastle should help the English forward take the next step in his development.
