According to ARA, Barcelona plan to prevent winger Lamine Yamal from joining the Spanish national team for upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Georgia and Bulgaria, citing ongoing groin injury issues.
Barcelona expect Yamal to play in the UEFA Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain this Wednesday and in La Liga against Sevilla on Sunday.
Despite his readiness to play, Yamal still experiences some discomfort. The Catalan club aims to balance his participation with therapy to prevent another injury.
It is reported that Barcelona have already implemented a plan to exclude Yamal from Spain’s squad for the two October qualifiers.
After Yamal’s recent return from national team duty, Barcelona announced the 18-year-old striker’s groin injury.
Yamal has appeared 23 times for Spain, scoring six goals and providing 12 assists.
Earlier, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente responded to criticism from Barcelona coach Hans-Dieter Flick regarding Yamal’s involvement in September matches despite his discomfort.
