According to The Telegraph, the management of Bayer Leverkusen has agreed to release head coach Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid without any compensation being paid.
On May 9, Bayer confirmed Alonso’s exit from the club. The current Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to officially take over the Brazilian national team after this season.
It has been reported that Bayer agreed to let the Spanish coach go for free, a year before the contract expires, which frees Real Madrid from the obligation to pay Bayer any compensation.
Alonso has been in charge of Bayer since 2022. During his tenure, he led the team to win the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the DFL-Supercup, while also reaching the final of the UEFA Europa League in 2024.
