Bayern Cancel Boateng’s Coaching Internship After Fan Protests

Due to fan protests, Jerome Boateng, former Bayern Munich player, will not be able to complete a coaching internship at the club as previously planned, according to the club’s official website.

The former German national team defender, who played for Munich from 2011 to 2021, had reported agreeing on the internship with Bayern’s coach Vincent Kompany, without specifying exact dates.

However, some Bayern fans opposed this decision, recalling the 2024 Munich court ruling where Boateng received a suspended fine and a warning for intentionally causing bodily harm to Sherin Senler, his former partner and mother of his twin daughters.

Media also reported possible pressure from Boateng on another former girlfriend, Kasia Lenhardt, who committed suicide in 2021. The 37-year-old retired in September, his last club being Austrian LASK, which he left in August. Boateng also won bronze with Germany at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
