Chinonso Offor, the striker for Baltika, told Telecomasia.net in an exclusive interview about his time in Cyprus championship and his friendship with Bayer forward Victor Boniface.
– What was it like to be alone in a completely different country at this age?
– The hardest thing was the language barrier. So I immediately tried to learn some basic phrases to at least communicate with people. I tried to adapt to Cypriot culture, understand their mentality, and so on. Luckily, I wasn't alone there. My friend Victor Boniface was with me in Cyprus. So we didn't have any negative situations during our time there. By the way, we flew out of Cyprus together.
– Do you keep in touch with him?
– Yes, of course. We still call each other from time to time.
Offor played for clubs in Northern Cyprus in the 2017–18 season. His career in Cyprus took place in leagues not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA. In 2017 he joined the club Binatlı Yılmaz, and later played on loan for Cihangir. After his time in Cyprus, Offor moved in 2019 to the Latvian club Daugavpils.
Victor Boniface has been with Bayer since 2023. In his first season he became the team's top league scorer with 14 goals and helped the club win the championship for the first time in its history.
