Borussia Defender Mats Hummels Retires

A friendly match took place in Dortmund on August 10, with the local team Borussia playing against Juventus. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the Turin side.

Mats Hummels, serving as captain, led Borussia out onto the field but was substituted in the 18th minute. Those minutes turned out to be the last of his professional career — the player decided to retire.

Over his career Hummels played 508 games for Borussia. With the club he became Bundesliga champion twice, won the German Cup twice, and was a member of the German national team that triumphed at the 2014 World Cup.
