Buffon’s Son Plays in Serie A 30 Years After Father’s Debut

Louis Thomas Buffon, son of legendary former Italy and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, played his first Serie A match.

The 17-year-old winger came on as a substitute in the 77th minute of the sixth round match where Pisa lost 0-4 to Bologna.

Louis Thomas’s debut occurred exactly 30 years after his father’s first Serie A appearance. At that time, young Gianluigi Buffon entered the field for Parma in the 77th minute with the score 4-0 against them and kept a clean sheet.

Notably, Buffon’s son has already played three matches for the Czech Republic youth team, as he is eligible to represent that country by descent. However, he can still play for Italy at all age levels.
