Samuel Eto'o, President of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), is under suspicion for misappropriating 600,000 euros, as reported by Actu Cameroun.
According to the source, the 43-year-old former striker is suspected of money laundering and conspiracy. The funds in question were intended as bonuses for the Cameroon national team players for their match against Mexico in 2023. However, the players have yet to receive these payments.
A complaint has been filed against Eto'o with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Department of Justice.
Samuel Eto'o has been leading Fecafoot since 2021. In September 2024, FIFA banned him from attending matches of the Cameroon men's and women's teams for six months due to aggressive behavior and violations of fair play principles.
Throughout his career, the striker has played for numerous clubs including Leganés, Real Madrid, Espanyol, Mallorca, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Anzhi, Chelsea, Everton, Sampdoria, Antalyaspor, and Konyaspor. Eto'o has made 118 appearances for the Cameroon national team and scored 56 goals.
