According to The Athletic, Chelsea players plan to give part of their bonuses from the Club World Cup victory to the family of tragically deceased Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
The outlet says the total donation for the Portuguese player's family will be about $15.5 million. The decision to hand over the bonuses was agreed between the club administration and the players.
Chelsea won the Club World Cup, which was held in the United States. In the final the English side were stronger than French PSG, winning 3–0. On July 3 news broke of the tragic deaths of Jota and his brother André Silva, who played for Penafiel, after a car crash in northwest Spain.
Jota was 28. He was a two-time UEFA Nations League winner with Portugal, and he also won the English league title and the FA Cup while playing for Liverpool.
