Former coach of Dynamo, Spartak, and the Russia national team Stanislav Cherchesov commented on the possible transfer of Ivan Sergeev to one of the Moscow clubs.
– Sergeev could move to Dynamo, but there’s also been talk of him being actively persuaded to join Spartak. Which club would suit him better?
– First of all, it’s up to him to decide what’s best for him. His inner voice will guide him. Secondly, you mentioned “persuading.” In my vocabulary, that word doesn’t exist when it comes to transfers. I would give him some substantial reasons rather than persuade him. You can’t just persuade someone. There’s a club, there’s a contract, and there are contractual obligations that can be offered to him. Begging or persuading won’t work.
There are arguments that should influence his transition to one club or another. He’s an experienced player, and again, his inner voice will tell him what’s best for him.
– Will he strengthen Spartak or Dynamo?
– He already strengthened Krylia Sovetov, as we saw. What will happen? The competitive atmosphere is there in both clubs, so he must prove himself. He had an easier time in Krylia Sovetov, because they brought him in knowing he’d be the main striker, and he's comfortable and performs well. You can never tell what will happen in another club. But he is at a good level.
– As a former Spartak player, would you like to see him join the club?
– My personal feelings don’t matter. The clubs know what is more important; the player knows where he’ll perform best, so the decision is up to them. I can only watch.
Earlier, reports emerged about Sergeev's potential transfer to Dynamo or Moscow’s Spartak. Krylia confirmed the possibility of the player moving to a Moscow club.
In the last season, the forward scored nine goals and provided three assists over 30 matches in all competitions.
