Inter president Giuseppe Marotta spoke to Football Italia about the difficulties of organizing new stadium projects in Milan, warning the clubs may leave the city if the situation does not change.
In Marotta's opinion, San Siro was not given approval to host Euro 2032 because the individuals responsible for the policies 30 years ago are still conservative in their approach, and do not realize that football clubs like Inter and Milan need a new stadium meeting contemporary standards.
Giuseppe Marotta
If this situation cannot be resolved, then both clubs would be forced to leave the city. That would be a terrible thing for the city. I am optimistic, I see what Mayor Sala is doing, and I hope common sense will prevail.
Inter and Milan have shared San Siro since 1947 – for 78 years.
After four rounds of the 2025/26 Serie A season, Inter sit 10th with six points. Milan are third with nine points. The Milan derby will take place on November 23 at 22:45 GMT+3.
