Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier questioned the fairness of Jon Jones’s sharp criticism of Tom Aspinall, who declined to continue his bout against Ciryl Gane after an eye poke.
Jones previously called Aspinall a quick quitter, but Cormier argued it is inappropriate to draw conclusions from a fight that lasted less than five minutes.

When Jon Jones is getting called a duck, when Jon Jones is getting told that Tom Aspinall is the guy to beat him, he’s sitting back hoping that something happens to give him a reason to go and downplay that. We spoke about it prior to the fight; I told you guys that if Ciryl Gane won, Jon would constantly go, ‘That’s the guy you thought would beat me?’
The UFC heavyweight title bout between Aspinall and Gane took place on October 25 at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The contest was stopped in the first round due to eye pokes from Gane and ruled a no-contest after Aspinall was unable to continue.
Aspinall’s professional record stands at 15 wins, 3 losses, and 1 no-contest. Gane’s record is 13 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no-contest.
