Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's net worth is estimated at $1.4 billion, making him the first billionaire footballer, Bloomberg reports.
The agency has evaluated Ronaldo's fortune for the first time and included him in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. For a long time, Ronaldo earned roughly the same as his main competitor, Argentine Lionel Messi, but that changed in 2023.
In 2023, Ronaldo signed a record contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr worth $200 million. In June, the deal was extended and is now valued at over $400 million. Messi has played for American club Inter Miami since that year with a more modest salary, but after retiring, he will receive a stake in the club, potentially allowing him to catch up with Ronaldo’s wealth.
Ronaldo, 40, is a five-time Champions League winner, European champion, two-time Nations League champion, top scorer in the history of national teams, European Championships, Champions League, and Club World Cups. He was the first footballer to surpass 900 official goals over his career.
