Crystal Palace Fined Over Fans’ Banner Reading UEFA Mafia

UEFA fined English club Crystal Palace over a fans’ banner, The Times reports.

During the UEFA Conference League playoff match with Norwegian side Fredrikstad, Palace supporters displayed a banner that read UEFA mafia.

The London club was fined €10,000 for discrediting UEFA and for displaying a message deemed inappropriate for a sporting event.

Recall that Crystal Palace was moved from the Europa League to the Conference League because American businessman John Textor owns both Palace and French club Lyon, which also qualified for the same European competition.

Nottingham Forest replaced the Eagles in the Europa League.
