Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella spoke about his surprise and fear due to the unexpected behavior of former U.S. President Donald Trump during the award ceremony following the Club World Cup final.
According to him, players were informed that they could lift the trophy only after Trump left the stage. However, he did not leave and instead urged the players to celebrate in his presence.
Cucurella shared in an interview with journalist Gerard Romero:
We were all there waiting for him to leave, but the guy didn't want to leave, and on top of that, we looked at him and he said, "Get him up, I'll stay here, and so on." And I wondered who would say anything to him, you know... I was scared s***less!
Trump stood in the front row with the Chelsea players, who were celebrating their victory, but soon FIFA President Gianni Infantino took him aside.
In the final match, Chelsea confidently defeated PSG with a score of 3-0.
