Defender Kyle Walker won't help England in the first match of World Cup 2022 in Qatar against Iran.

Kyle Walker, quoted by talkSPORT
The first match is too soon for me and I won't have time to recover, but after that I will definitely be ready to play. It's always a great achievement to represent your country in any tournament.

The defender says he could only go to Qatar thanks to Manchester City's physical therapists.

Walker is still recovering from groin surgery he underwent in early October.

England's opponents in the group stage are the national teams of Iran, the United States and Wales. England will play their first match on November 21.
