Fernandes Explains Why He Refused to Leave Man United for Saudi Arabia

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes spoke to Sky Sports about the rumors linking him to a Saudi club. Earlier, it was rumored that Al-Hilal were willing to pay €120 million for the Portuguese midfielder.

Fernandes refused the Saudis not because of the 2026 World Cup, but because he never wanted to leave England.

Bruno Fernandes
I wanted to stay at Manchester United, and the club wanted me to stay. That's all there is to it.

Fernandes has played for Manchester United since 2020. In the 2025-26 season, Bruno appeared in eight matches across all competitions, scoring two goals.

After seven rounds of the 2025-26 Premier League, Manchester United sit 10th in the table with 10 points. In their eighth match, Ruben Amorim’s team will face Liverpool on October 19 at 18:30 GMT+3.
