FIFA President Gianni Infantino has addressed the controversy surrounding England footballer Jessica Carter, who reported experiencing racism during the 2025 European Championship in Switzerland.
Gianni Infantino
There is no place for racism in football or society. We stand with Jess. We stand with every player and every individual who has suffered from racist abuse. No player should be discriminated against in any way, they should be free to be at their very best on the pitch. FIFA has already successfully combated online abuse at several tournaments with its Social Media Protection Service and it intends to continue working with confederations, member associations, and players in this area. In this case, we offer our support in any further necessary measures and provide data so that appropriate action can be taken against the perpetrators.
The England women's national team recently issued a statement regarding the racist abuse directed at defender Jessica Carter during a match in the 2025 European Championship.
The statement also mentioned that the England women's team would not kneel before their upcoming match against Italy, scheduled for July 22.
The Women's Euro 2025 is taking place in Switzerland from July 2 to 27.
Earlier, FIFA’s official website announced tougher penalties for racist behavior during matches.
