Former Barcelona captain and head coach Xavi Hernandez could take over at London's Chelsea if Italian Enzo Maresca leaves his post. This was reported by Football Insider.
According to the source, the London club's management is dissatisfied with the head coach's behavior at recent press conferences, where Enzo Maresca stated that not all Chelsea bosses support the team.
The Italian coach has led the "Blues" since the summer of 2024. After 16 rounds, the Londoners sit in fourth place in the Premier League table with 28 points.
The last club in Xavi's coaching career was Spain's Barcelona. The 45-year-old specialist led the Catalan team from November 2021 to June 2024, winning the Spanish championship and the Spanish Super Cup. Before the Blaugrana, Xavi worked with Qatari side Al Sadd.
Earlier, respected insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Chelsea's owners could sack Enzo Maresca as early as January. He also reported that the London club's management has held active negotiations with Xavi's agents in recent weeks.
