Former Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Piqué has suggested that teams should be penalized with point deductions if a match ends in a 0-0 draw.
It’s unacceptable that you spend 100, 200, or 300 euros only for a match to finish 0-0. Something needs to change. We could consider that if a match ends in a 0-0 draw, teams do not earn any points. In that case, the game would be more open starting from the 70th minute.
Piqué retired from professional football in November 2022. Over his 18-year club career, he won the Spanish championship eight times and the Champions League three times. Additionally, he was part of the national team that won the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championship in 2012.
Currently, Barcelona sit at the top of La Liga with 54 points. In the UEFA Champions League, the team has secured their place in the Round of 16.
Previously, Gerard Piqué offered new changes in tennis rules.
Also, the 38-year-old former footballer has been summoned to court to testify in a corruption case related to the transfer of rights for Saudi Arabia to host the Supercup of Spain.
