Neymar, the holder of the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2016 Olympic champion with the Brazilian national team, has tested positive for coronavirus, as reported by Globo.
The source indicates that the 33-year-old Santos striker has not participated in training with the main team since June 5, the day he first showed COVID-19 symptoms, which were later confirmed through medical tests.
Neymar is being treated at home and is scheduled for retesting on June 9.
The star forward returned to the club from São Paulo, where he previously played from 2009 to 2013, in January 2025 after transferring from Saudi club Al-Hilal. Since rejoining Santos, Neymar has played four matches in the Brazilian Championship and one national cup match, failing to score in any of them.
His current contract with the team expires at the end of June 2025, and it was reported on May 17 by TNT Sports Brazil that Neymar intends to extend his agreement with Santos. Transfermarkt currently estimates the striker at €12 million.
